The following may not be hunted: female whales accompanied by cubs; Greenlandic whales and other Balaenidae; Blue whales; Humpbacks; Sperm whales. Hunting is only allowed with the use of harpoon guns with a caliber of 50 mm or more. The maximum catch is of 10 fin whales per calendar year and cought off the Western Greenland area. TAC of annual quota for fin whales is distributed from 1986 (1, 3 and 6 species in respective areas).Sei whales larger than 10.7 mt. may not be hunted.
