Abstract The Regulation provides a framework for the management and protection of wetland areas in the Greenland Ramsar sites, and sets regulations with regard to sailing, trespassing, flying, building and other activities which may threaten wildlife. The Regulation provides strict requirements and measures (with the exception of exploration and exploitation of non-living resources, including mineral resources) to adhere to the conservation goals of Greenland's international obligations under the Ramsar Convention. It is prohibited to: fly over the area between 15 April and 30 September; fishing with pelagic trawls, bottom trawling and scraping for scallops; harvesting seaweed; engaging in agricultural activities, animal husbandry, cultivation or planting of vegetation. Net-fishing is banned between 1 March and 30 September. The relevant municipal council shall ensure compliance with this Regulation, while the Ministry of Nature, Environment and Energy shall ensure adherence to the Regulation of Ramsar sites outside the municipal boundary.
