Abstract

These Regulations amend the Offshore Marine Conservation (Natural Habitats, c.) Regulations 2007 so as to make further provision for carrying into effect certain aspects of Directive 2009/147/EC on the conservation of wild birds ("Wild Birds Directive"). The amendments concern, among other things: preservation and re-establishment of a sufficient diversity and area of habitat for wild birds; exercise of functions of competent authorities to secure compliance with the Wild Birds Directive; avoidance of pollution or deterioration of wild bird habitat; tasks of the Scottish Ministers and Northern Ireland departments in respect of wild birds habitats; and research and scientific work for the purposes of the Wild Birds Directive.
