They define the objectives of management of solid and hazardous waste, the functions of appropriate Governmental agencies and the obligations of industries. They also classify waste and make provision for contingency plan and emergency procedure, groundwater protection, ground water monitoring requirements, other monitoring programmes, corrective action programmes, protection of surface waters, a land treatment programme, the growth of food chain crops in, or on a treatment zone, special requirement for extremely hazardous waste, handling and incineration of waste, monitoring and inspection, a waste tracking programme for various types of waste. The Agency may specify in a permit issued for the facility the specific food chain crops which may be grown on the treatment zone.
