In order to ensure the conservation and sustainable management of threatened species, the Agency is empowered to impose bans and related measures on their use and treatment and to prepare an inventory of biological diversity. Concerning access to genetic resources, these Regulations provide for: application for access permit and related procedures; benefit sharing; respect of traditional and community rights; offences and penalties; exemption from the application of the Regulations; interpretation of relevant terms, including: benefit sharing; biological diversity; collector; community; endangered species; exotic species; genetic resources; threatened species; traditional.
