The Rules require that the idols are made form natural materials only and use of use of toxic and non-biodegradable chemical dyes or synthetic colours are prohibited for painting the idols. The Biodegradable materials must be collected separately for recycling or composting and burning of solid wastes at immersion sites is prohibited. The local authorities must ensure that within 24 hours of the immersion of the idols, the remains of the idols and all other waste materials must be removed from the banks of the water bodies and are transported to the solid waste dumping sites. Mizoram State Pollution Control Board must conduct water quality assessment of the water bodies before, during and after immersion. Any violation of these Rules will attract penalties as mentioned therein.
