Abstract This Decree seeks to prevent spreading of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) by prohibiting importation of hazardous animal tissues such as: (1) brain; (2) spinal cord; (3) eyes; (4) sweetbread; (5) milt; (6) lymphatic and nervous tissue; (7) intestines of bovine animals; (8) intestines of ovine and (9) caprine animals which are aged over 6 months. The importation of feedstuffs of animal origin is also prohibited, such as: (1) meat meal; (2) bone meal; (3) blood meal; (4) and related products of feed containing such products. The importation of milk and dairy products, feedstuffs for cats and dogs (accompanied by a veterinary-health certificate), fish meal and fish feedstuffs is permitted in accordance with article I(b) of this Decree.
