It concerns urban areas for which potable water is obtained from surface water bodies. In emergency situations, explored and developed groundwater resources that are protected against pollution and clogging and certified through sanitary and epidemiological inspections shall be used for the population’s potable water supply. In the absence of explored and developed groundwater reserves suitable for potable water, regional executive bodies may file an application to the Federal Subsoil Management Agency requesting the exploration and assessment of groundwater sources of potable water.
