Abstract

The Government decrees that ecological zoning of the Baikal lake ecosystem is carried out for the purpose of the preservation of this unique protected area and the prevention of negative impact of economic and other types of activity on it. Ecological zones of the Baikal lake ecosystem (central ecological zone, buffer ecological zone and ecological zone of atmospheric influence) are marked out within the boundaries of the protected area. Ministry of Natural Resources is entitled to carry out zoning of the Baikal lake ecosystem. Federal Land Surveying and Cartographic Service must provide for elaboration and printing of the maps with the marking-out of the boundaries of the Baikal lake ecosystem and its ecological zones.
