The purpose of Plant Quarantine Statute shall be: 1) protection of the national territory against the introduction from abroad of pests, diseases and weeds; 2) timely exposure, localization and liquidation of pests, diseases and weeds and the prevention of the propagation thereof; 3) implementation of plant quarantine regulations and plant quarantine arrangements in the process of processing, procurement, transport, storage and trade of agricultural crops, commodities and planting materials. Quarantine can be imposed on seeds and planting material, agricultural crops, forest species, fungi, bacteria, viruses, ticks and insects, agricultural equipment and machinery, agricultural and non-agricultural land, subsidiary small-holding, vegetable gardens and orchards.
