Abstract

With the present Decree are adopted the amendments made to the Annex of the Protocol of 1978 relating to the international Convention of 1973 for the prevention of pollution from ships. More specifically, with the Resolution MEPC.111(50) by the marine environment protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization, which has been adopted on 4 December 2003 and entered into force on 5 April 2005, amendments are made to Regulation 13G, the new Regulation 13H has been added and consequential amendments are made to the Supplement to the IOPP Certificate of Annex I of MARPOL 73/78. Regulation 13G sets out measures for existing oil tankers related to the prevention of accidental oil pollution. Regulation 13H establishes provisions for the prevention of oil pollution from oil tankers carrying heavy oil as cargo. Form B of the supplement to the IOPP Certificate related to the revised Regulations 13G and 13H of Annex I of MARPOL 73/78 is consequently amended.
