It aims at the enforcement of the national legislation on water management and protection. The targets of inspection shall be: (a) water conservation and protection of waterbodies against pollution, siltation and exhaustion; (b) compliance with the national legislation on water management and protection; (c) issuance of instructions, and supervision over the implementation thereof, regarding improvement of the state of waterbodies; (d) calculation of damage caused to waterbodies, liability and compensation; (e) technical supervision over the condition of irrigation channels and waterworks. The inspectors must control availability of water management authorization and permit for discharge of foul water, water treatment before discharge and the correctness of registration of water abstraction and discharge.
