Abstract

This Act stipulates that the Meteorological Services Department in the Ministry of Transport and Communications which existed before the date of commencement of this Act shall continue to operate in accordance with this Act. The Department shall issue weather and climate forecasts, and advance warnings on weather conditions likely to endanger life and property¸ maintain a climatologic database, provide consultancy and specialist services for special sectors such as agriculture and carry out other tasks and provide services as specified in section 4.and the Second Schedule The Director of the Department shall establish and administer the Meteorological Services Fund.
