Abstract

These Regulations, made by the Minister responsible for Maritime Administration, in exercise of the power conferred by section 93 of the Merchant Shipping Act 2002, provide for the survey and certification of vessels for purposes of the Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea 1974 and Protocols (SOLAS). These Regulations do not apply to fishing vessels. The Certifying Authority shall be the Minister or any person authorised by the Minister. The Regulations also set out the procedure to be adopted when the ship is deficient and provides with respect to related matters.
