Abstract

These Regulations, made under the Merchant Shipping Act, 2009, set out procedures for port state control of foreign ships in ports of Kenya for purposes of various listed Conventions including MARPOL. The Kenya Maritime Authority is designated as the competent authority for Kenya for purposes of port inspections. The Regulations set out the procedures of such inspections and specify criteria for the detention of a vessel. The Regulations shall not apply to fishing vessels.
