Abstract

The purpose of the present Ordinance is to implement the Council Directive 75/440/EEC concerning the quality required of surface water intended for the abstraction of drinking water in the Member States and the Council Directive 79/869/EEC concerning the methods of measurement and frequencies of sampling and analysis of surface water intended for the abstraction of drinking water in the Member States. Article 3 establishes that an authorization for abstraction of water shall only be released, if the waters or parts of them are listed in one of the three categories (A1, A2 or A3) laid down in Annex 1; provided that the quality requirements comply with those stated in Annex 2. The text consists of 5 articles and 2 Annexes.
