Abstract

The present Regulations enforce the Fisheries Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. F-14). In particular, the Regulations lay down provisions relating to pollution caused by deleterious substances in liquid effluents from meat and poultry products plants. Section 4 defines the term “deleterious substance” and section 5 fixes the authorized threshold value of such substances. The text – consisting of 13 sections – deals with the following aspects: method of collecting composite samples, frequency of sampling and analysis, analytical and other test methods, flow measurement, calculation of actual deposit, reporting and records, permitted variation in additional conditions. Four Schedules are enclosed.
