Abstract

This Act provides in respect of "matimela", which means any stray animal and any animal which, having been a stray animal, continues to be matimela by virtue of section 15 of the Act. Section 15 provides that animals which are matimela continue to be considered as such until they are recovered by their owner. The Act provides for the establishment of matimela facilities and the appointment of matimela officers. The Act also makes provisions for the reporting, collection, branding, notification of presence, claiming, sale, care, etc. of matimela.
