Abstract

This Statutory Measure, made under sections 10, 13, 14 and 15 of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act, 1996 imposes a levy on pigs slaughtered by abattoirs for commercial use other than for own consumption and live pigs which are exported. The levy shall be paid to the South African Pork Producers' Organisation ("levy administrator") and used to fund selected measures for the development of the pork industry. The Statutory Measure also determines guidelines prices for slaughtered pigs and live pigs intended for exportation.
