Abstract

This act sets the zoning plan for the Cairns Marine Park. The park consists of six management areas: Starcke Management Area; Endeavour Management Area; Daintree Management Area; Port Douglas Management Area; Mulgrave-Johnstone Management Area and Outer Islands Management Area. For management purposes, the park is also divided in zones: General Use Zone; Habitat Protection Zone; Estuarine Conservation Zone; Conservation Park Zone; Buffer Zone; National Park Zone and No Structures Zone. Activities in each type of zone are regulated in the order. Five areas are subjct to special management: Fisheries Experimental Areas; Seasonal Closure Areas; Defence Areas; Works Management Areas and Aboriginal Management Areas. The special regimes for these areas are set in the order.
