Abstract

These Regulations provide for the protection of marine life in the Prince Edward Islands Marine Protected Area established by Notice in accordance with the Marine Living Resources Act. They provide rules for fishing so as to reduce the ecological impact of fisheries. The Regulations establish a Sanctuary Area, four Restricted Zones (Abyss restricted zone, Africana II restricted zone, Prince Edward Island restricted zone and Southwest Indian Ridge restricted zone), and a Controlled Zone in the Marine Protected Area and place restrictions on boat-based fishing and use of gear in the Restricted Zones and the Controlled Zone. They prohibit all fishing in the Sanctuary.
