Long title: An Act to provide for the establishment of a body corporate to be known as the Malta Maritime Authority for the transfer to that Authority of the powers vested by law in the Director of Ports, and for the exercise and performance by or on behalf of such Authority, of functions relating to ports and merchant shipping in Malta; to provide for the transfer to the said Authority of certain assets; and to make provision in respect of matters ancillary thereto or connected therewith.

Abstract: This Act provides for the setting up of the Malta Maritime Authority, whose main tasks and duties shall be the following: (a) to provide, maintain and operate ports in Malta; (b) to prevent and control pollution by oil or any other substances of any port; (c) to advise the Government on any matter relating to ports, merchant shipping, marine pollution prevention and control; (d) to regulate and control navigation.
