Abstract

These Regulations amend Part VI of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Regulations, 1992 by extending the application of certain water quality standards under the principal Regulations to a wider range of functions performed by local authorities, the Environmental Protection Agency and An Bord Pleanala under the Local Government (Water Pollution) Acts, the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992 and the Waste Management Act, 1996. The provisions of these Regulations concern principally prior investigation in the processing of applications for a licence in respect of sewage effluent or trade effluent containing a harmful substance which is discharged to an aquifer.
