Abstract

These Regulations provide rules relative to the transportation and disposal of waste other than hazardous waste as defined in the Environment Protection (Standards for Hazardous Wastes) Regulations 2001. Waste shall be deposited only at a transfer station (i.e. a site specified in Part I of the First Schedule) or a waste disposal site (i.e. a site specified in Part II of the First Schedule) or any other site approved for that purpose (reg. 3). Transportation of waste in excess of a specified amount requires a licence to be obtained in accordance with regulations 4 to 6. Regulations 7 to 10 concern the transportation of waste. Other regulations prescribe offences and powers of enforcement. Schedule 5 specifies, inter alia, waste permitted at a landfill. A licence issued under the Local Government (Dumping and Waste Carriers) Regulations 1997 shall be deemed to have been issued under these Regulations. (16 regulations completed by 5 Schedules)
