They also provide for public control regarding littering, for enforcement, for the extension of purposes for which Regulations under Waste Management Act, 1996 may be made and for some other matters relating to pollution control. “Litter” means a substance or object, other than waste within the meaning of the Waste Management Act, 1996 which is properly consigned for disposal, that, when deposited in a place other than a place lawfully designated for the deposit, is or is likely to become unsightly, deleterious, nauseous or unsanitary.
