Abstract

This Legislative Decree applies to certain categories of substances added for specific purposes in foodstuffs destined to particular nutritional uses. Only the chemical substances listed out in Annex 1 hereto may be used in the manufacture of the products referred to in Legislative Decree No. 111 of 27 January 1992. The use of nutritional substances in foodstuffs destined to particular nutritional purposes must lead to the manufacture of safe products which fulfill the nutritional requirements of consumers as established by generally accepted scientific data. The producer or importer may be required by the Ministry of Health to report scientifc data as per article 1, paragraph 5. The purity criteria laid down in Ministerial Decree No. 209 of 27 February 1996 shall apply to the substances listed out in Annex 1 hereto.
