Abstract

This Legislative Decree is adopted pursuant to Regulation (EC) No. 2173/2005 on the establishment of a FLEGT licensing scheme for imports of timber into the European Community and Regulation (EU) No. 995/2010 which lays down the obligations of operators who place timber and timber products on the market. Firstly it designates the authority that shall be competent at the national level for carrying out the checks provided under those Regulations. Further it provides for the creation at the national level of the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade licence system. Penalties are set out.
