Abstract

The objective of this Law is to: (a) provide security for organized farming; (b) to avoid the dismemberment and irrational use of farmland. It defines the rules on the purchase and sale of agricultural land as well as on State participation in the process of "normalisation of relations connected with agricultural land". The law defines farms, agrarian persons (farmers, etc.), and sets out rights and obligations connected to landownership and use, such as the right to freely alienate land. The final section lists cases in which alienation of land requires special permission, such as when land designated for agricultural purposes is not intended to be used for agriculture by the new owner. Such permissions are granted by the Land Administration Body. All land transactions must be registered in the public register.
