Abstract This Law requires the standardization of products to ensure their safety for human health and the environment, conserve resources, improve product quality and provide consumers with reliable information on the product. The State Committee on Environmental Protection shall be the state institution responsible for the management of natural resources and prevention of environmental pollution and standardization in the aforesaid sphere. In Uzbekistan the following standards shall apply: (a) international standards; (b) national state standards; (c) branch standards; (d) technical conditions; (e) industrial standards; (f) national foreign standards; and (g) administrative and territorial standards. The Act consists of four sections: (1) general provisions; (2) normative requirements for standardization; (3) state supervision over standards; and (4) financial issues.
