Abstract Cooperatives are defined as organizations that can be established by individuals, public agencies, provincial administrations, municipalities, villages and associations for economic benefits of it's members, and especially their vocational and subsistence needs through mutual assistance, solidarity and guarantees. Cooperatives can be established through a contract among minimum of 7 partners. The Law includes following sections: Cooperatives and Establishment; Acquiring and Loosing Membership Rights; Rights and Obligations of the Members; Cooperative Accounts; Cooperative Bodies; Functions and Obligations of Cooperative Unions, Cooperative Central Unions, Union of Turkish National Cooperatives, and Advisory Board; Dissolution of Cooperatives; Ministry's Obligations and Mandates; Miscellaneous Provisions. It states that names of public institutions and agencies cannot be used as names of cooperatives and upper organizations; and amendments have been made on accepting to and discharging from membership, rights and obligations of the members, cooperative accounts, functions and obligations of cooperative unions, functions and mandates of the Ministry, prohibition of political activities, penal liabilities, and on provisional articles.
