Abstract The aim of this Law is to protect and develop the environment and wildlife in the United Arab Emirates. This Law is composed of 17 articles. Article 1 decrees the establishment of the Environmental Research and Wildlife Development Agency. Article 2 deals with the Head Office and Branches. Article 3 specifies objectives and activities. Articles 4 and 5 provide for management and internal organization. Article 8 defines competencies and duties of the Secretary General. Articles 9 to 13 address the budget, taxes, civil retirement, auditing and final account. Article 14 recommends the establishment of the National Avian Research Centre as an integral unit of the Agency.
