Abstract

This Law makes mandatory the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for mining research, exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons operations and establishes the Third amendment to Decree-Law no. 151-B/2013 which establishes the legal regime for environmental impact assessment of public and private projects likely to have significant effects on the environment. It transposes EU Parliament Directive 2011/92 and the Council of 13 December 2011 on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment, as amended by Decree No. 47/2014 of 24 March and Decree No. 179/2015 of 27 August.
