Abstract This Law, composed of 17 articles, regulates the plantation and commercialization procedures for the genetically modified soya bean production in year 2004. It forbids the commercialization, in a State other than the production one, of grain of genetically modified soya bean produced as seed in 2003. It also forbids the plantation of genetically modified soya bean in the protected areas indicated by the Ministry of Environment. Finally, it enforces the non compliance fees set under article 7 of Law No. 10.688 of 13 June 2003.
