Abstract This Act, consisting of 173 sections divided into 13 Parts and completed by three Schedules, provides for the registration of title to land, easements and possessory titles. The Recorder of Titles, appointed by the Governor, is the statutory officer responsible for providing the community with certainty of title to land by the development and administration of legislation governing land dealings in Tasmania. The Act sets out procedures for bringing land under this Act. Land may be brought under this Act if not alienated from the Crown, upon registration of conveyance or mortgage, upon subdivision and at the instance of the recorder.
