Abstract

This Joint Norm, consisting of 11 articles and four Annexes, regulates the registration of biochemical products. It establishes the procedures to be adopted for registering biochemical products that are characterized as technical products, pesticides and agrochemicals, according to the definitions established in art. 1 of Decree No. 4.074 of 4 January 2002. Biochemical products are those consisting of naturally chemicals with a non-toxic mechanism of action, used to control diseases or pests as agents that promote chemical or biological processes. Other products may be evaluated according to this Joint Norm when they have the same structure and functional identity as naturally occurring products and will be treated on a case-by-case basis. For the purposes of registration of biochemical products, the applicant shall submit to the federal agencies of agriculture, health and the environment two copies of the application set out in Annex II of Decree No. 4.074 of 2002, and the information established in Annexes I, II and III of this Joint Norm.
