Abstract

TThis Act gives general interpretation of terms use in other enactments such as "Mauritius waters" (the territorial sea, internal waters, archipelagic waters, historic waters, the EEZ of Mauritius, and the water superjacent to its continental shelf), “State of Mauritius", “property", and “State land". "Archipelagic waters" "continental shelf”, "EEZ", "historic waters", "internal waters", "maritime zone" and "territorial sea" have the same meaning as in the Maritime Zones Act 2005. The Act also contains general provisions applicable to all enactments of Mauritius and establishes general rules of interpretation and the making and repeal of laws.
