Abstract

The purposes of this Act are: (a) to state principles and rules for the interpretation of legislation and public documents; (b) to shorten legislation and public documents; and (c) to promote consistency in the language and form of legislation and public documents. The Act, among other things, specifies the sources of Niuean law in order of priority, provides rule for the making of legislation defines the " territorial sea" (which has the same meaning as in section 4 of the Territorial Sea and Exclusive Economic Zone Act 1977).
