The Decree has entered into force on 27 March 1987.
Abstract

The present Decree provides for the establishment of the marine nature reserve "Isola di Ustica", which is delineated by article 2. In compliance with the principles laid down in article 27 of Act No. 979 of 31 December 1982, the aims hereby pursued are the following: (a) the environmental protection of the marine area; (b) the conservation and the improvement of the biological resources of the marine area as well as the repopulation of fish species; (c) the promotion of studies, researches and educational programmes relating to the marine biology field. The marine areas is subdivided into the three zones defined by article 4 which further specifies the activities (including fishing and navigation) permitted and prohibited within such zones. The Harbour's Master of Palermo is in charge of the surveillance system.
