Abstract The Decree, here implemented, introduces a duty to keep catch logbooks and to notify the contents of such books to the Directorate of Fisheries by Norwegian vessels fishing not only in waters under Norwegian fishery jurisdiction, but also in jurisdiction of other countries and outside fisheries jurisdictions as far as not otherwise indicated in the Decree. These Instructions lay down requirements for the keeping of catch logbooks on board of all vessels and formulates rules with respect to logbooks for specific types of vessels such as purse seine vessels, trawl and other types. Certain types of vessels shall send their catch logbooks within a month after termination of fishing in the original to the Directorate of Fisheries.
