Abstract

This Instruction of the Ministry of Forestry, in order to implement provisions of the Law on Forest Protection and Development of 1991, proposes a variety of measures to protect wildlife in Vietnam, including: dissemination of legal texts regarding protection wildlife, raising of public awareness, and further instructs forestry institutions, the Forest Protection Department, Customs Office, tax services, and market management of the provinces to: prohibit in hotels, restaurants to advertise and serve the food cooked from wildlife or their products; prohibit producing and selling various wildlife products; strictly control and seize the illegal trading wildlife, especially in domestic market and transfer through frontier, demobilise the centre for illegal trade in wildlife; severely treat the case of illegal hunting, trading wildlife and their by-products; quickly transfer live confiscated specimens for reintroduction in to forests, etc; encourage wildlife farming; promote observation of the provisions of CITES, and the regulations of the Government of Vietnam.
