Abstract

This Act is implementing the provisions for prevention and control of animal diseases in accordance with the federal Animal Health Act 2018 (BGBl. I S. 1938). The Act provides that an animal disease control service must be maintained as a permanent institution at the State Office for Agriculture, Food Safety and Fisheries; in this office the official veterinarians shall carry out services. The Act provides for announcement of notification or decree by animal health authorities for prevention of significant dangers to life, health, animals or property. The text lays out for consideration of Animal Disease Fund (Tierseuchenkasse) for the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to be used in the case of animal losses due to animal diseases or epidemic-like diseases. The text further elaborates on the organisation and management of this fund, administrative board, tasks and responsibilities. Article 15 provides for granting compensation to animal owner under the conditions that are verified by this Act. The Act further provides for the contribution that should be paid on behalf of the animal owners to the fund annually.
