Abstract The present Act enacts regulations relating to a survey of the water cycle and the quality of water in Austria. It takes account of, in the order, surface water, groundwaters including springs, precipitations, condensation and solid elements in waters relating to temperature of water and air, ice formations as wells as concomitants factors influencing the water cycle. The monitoring of the water quality includes groundwater, flowing water, standing water. Article 2 lists the concerned river basins such as Danube, Rhine, etc. The text consists of 12 articles and 2 Annexes.
