Abstract

By laws of the Papua New Guinea Harbours Board made under section30 of the Harbours Board Act 1963 to regulate various matters relating to the Board and ports and its property including the protection of land, navigation, mooring and berthing and fishing in port areas. The Port Manager may by notice prohibit fishing from any land or structure under the jurisdiction of the Board. A person who engages in fishing from any area subject to a prohibition to fish shall be guilty of an offence (art. 92). Article 166 prohibits trawling or any kind of net-fishing in the fairway within a declared port.
