Abstract This Act implements the provisions of the Animal Health Act (TierGesG) of 2013, that outlines the legal framework for animal health regulations in Germany. It mandates that the competent authority, led by a qualified veterinarian, oversees the implementation of the Act and may enlist approved veterinarians and other experts, to assist in official veterinary examinations and related tasks. Article 2 of the text provides for the measures to prevent and combat animal diseases including notification by the official veterinarian of the disease suspicion and orders that are issued by animal disease authority for controlling the diseases. Article 7 outlines for compensation and financial aid for reimbursement of costs for animal losses while the Act further lays out for establishment of the special fund of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg for securing compensation.
