This Regulation enters into force on 14 December 2001.
Abstract

This Regulation aims at managing the quality of water and controlling water pollution. The Government shall formulate plans for enhancing efficiency in the use of water. Water quality shall be classified into 4 classes: standard drinking water; water to be used for recreation infrastructures/facilities; water to be used for breeding of hot water fish; and water to be used for watering plants, etc. The text sets out provisions for the quality standards of water, for the monitoring of water quality, and for the status of water quality. The Minister shall stipulate a national policy on the control over water pollution. The utilization and disposal of waste water shall be subject to the granting of a licence as provided in the Regulation. Remaining provisions deal with sanctions, penalties, compensations, and transitional provisions.
