Abstract

This Order, made by the Minister for Forestry under section 4 of the Forest Resources and Timber Utilisation Act, exempts land in Burara land in the Malaita Province from the provisions of that section for purposes of agricultural development and reforestation. Section 4 requires a licence to be obtained for commercial felling. In this area instead clear felling shall be undertaken only the area if the Commissioner gives prior written approval of the area to be cleared subject to the specified conditions. The Order defines offences.
