Rules 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 enter into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. Rules 4 and sub-rule 5 of rule 6 enter into force 180 days after their publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

Some minor text amendments and substitutions are made to the Forest (Conservation) Rules, 2003. "Committee" shall mean the Forest Advisory Committee which shall be composed of members as listed in the new rule 3. A new rule has been inserted which provides for the constitution of the Regional Empowered Committee. Rule 6 shall be substituted with new provisions for the submission of proposals seeking approval of the Central Government. Minor amendments have been made to rule 7, and rule 8 shall be omitted.
