They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette and Food Business Operator shall comply with all the provisions of these regulations by 1st July, 2019.
Abstract

These Regulations require every food business operator and marketer to comply with the general principles set out in Regulation 4 while advertising and publishing or disseminating marketing communication meant for promotion or sale of any article of food and also applies to labelling claims. Regulation 5 makes provisions relating to nutrition claims and specifies as to what constitutes a nutrition claim and what does not. Regulation 6 provides for non-addition claims in respect of sugars, salts and additives. Regulation 7 & 8 provide for health claims and claims relating to dietary guidelines or healthy diets. Regulations 9 describes conditional claims and Regulation 10 lists prohibited claims. Regulation 11 requires food business operator or marketer to seek prior approval from the Food Authority for reduction of disease risk claims in certain cases and Regulation 12 contains the procedure to obtain such approval. Regulations 13 & 14 provide for redressal in case of non-compliance of these Regulations. Regulation 15 provides for ordering the food business operator or advertiser to issue corrective advertisement within thirty days through the same medium for neutralising the effect of any advertisement found to be in violation these Regulations.
