The present Law enters into force on 1 August 1999.
Abstract

The present Law regulates the farming and catching of fish. The provisions of the Law apply also to crustaceans. Article 2 establishes that the Canton: 1) promotes the natural varieties of fish and the stock of native fish, crustaceans and baits, and takes necessary measures to conserve, improve or if possible restore their living space; 2) protects endangered fish and crustacean species; 3) guarantees an environmental-friendly exploitation of fish and crustacean stock; 4) gives financial contributions to third parties; 5) provides for enhancement of fish stock. The text consists of 33 articles divided into 5 Parts as follows: General provisions(A); Indication of fishing districts and lease of public fishing rights (B); Practice of fishing (C); Various provisions (D); Final provisions (E).
