Abstract In implementing the Fisheries Act, these Regulations, consisting of 232 sections divided into 18 Parts and completed by seven Schedules, regulate a variety of matters relating to marine and freshwater fisheries and fish breeding. Matters here regulated include: protected species not to be taken (reg. 10); release of fish or aquatic life (reg. 12); movement of fish or aquatic life (reg. 13); deseased and contaminated fish and aquatic pests (regs. 16-23); exotic fish, noxious fish and import permits (23-28); possession and use of fishing gear (regs. 29-45); amateur fishing (46); general licensing and marking of fishing vessels (regs. 47-57); processing, sale and handling of fish (regs. 58-66); commercial fishing licences (regs. 67-72); coastal line fishery (regs. 73-78a); coastal net fishery (regs 79-85); various other kinds of fisheries and total allowable catch and quota units (regs. 86-141); processing and sale of fish (regs. 142-158); aquaculture (regs. 159-181); special licences (regs. 182-205); fees and levies (regs. 206-210).
